About Us
Dunkes Estate started off as a dream for a married German couple, Ralf and Sabine Dunkes. They visited the Garden Route and fell in love with the area and so, decided to build their Organic estate.
Sabine Dunkes competes internationally in horse riding, European award winner and international judge for vaulting. Ralf and Sabine are very passionate about horse riding and they are incorporating their knowledge and expertise in George. They current breed that they own are Holsteiner horses, which are the oldest warmblood breeds in Germany.
Facilities
The estate is Off Grid and involves permaculture and environmentally friendly methods as well as products ensuring the least harm to all of nature around us. There are animals on the estate being rescue cows, fallow deer, beautiful geese and free range chickens, with more to be added in the future including birds of prey and alpaca’s. We’re constantly increasing the elements that attract more of nature as a whole, improving the Eco-System and soil.
We are completing our tunnels which make use of Aquaponics and Hydroponics systems in the future, to grow herbs, vegetables and fruit. All are grown as organically as possible and will be used in our Food Baskets available. There will be a range of items unique to the area and excellent for nutrition and with healing properties. Stay posted for our online store which will be growing to include organic products.
The aim of the equestrian facilities offered is to be highest level of quality to riders of all ages. The stables have been built with spacious boxes of 4m x 4m, giving each horse ample space. The estate offers the following facilities:
17 Stables, Wash Bay, Tack Room, Paddocks, Grazing Fields and Arena with Sand and Eco-Fibre top
Lunging Ring with an imported Teomatic Walker and solarium (coming in 2024)
The estate also boasts large paddocks with beautiful scenic views of the mountains and ocean.
